Upholding Justice And Righteousness: The bees teaches us that, when they produce honey, everyone and everything benefits. Thus, if we’re doing well, we must help others progress too.
How many of us can boldly say they did not ever look down upon someone from a poor background, a cleaner, a security guard, a nanny, a beggar, vendors selling at the corner of the street, a person going from door to door trying to make sales, a supermarket cashier, a widow, a single parent, etc?
When an individual’s lineage is perceived to be inferior, we feel superior to them. We think we have the power to control them and dictate how they should behave. This is because our minds have become warped by our positions, status, wealth, and being in the company of materialistic people.
We look down upon these people, but the reality is that we depend on these people for our daily survival and tasks. Without them, how will our life be comfortable, how will our work get done, how will our children be occupied or taken care of? Imagine if we were one of those individual’s and you received the same treatment by us. Imagine being belittled because of a job description, a family background you came from, a race you belonged to, the colour of your skin or your appearance. How would you feel?
Sadly, we respect people on the basis of what they possess, their materialistic lifestyle, appearance, nationality, etc. Is this the status that we have come down to?
It’s easy to assume superiority when you don’t take other’s feelings into consideration, when you’re not aware of their difficulties, or even ponder about their lives. But when you’re at home, at work, or in public, think about how your life would be without getting help from these very same people. Think about how blessed you are to be given such bounties of life, and become grateful, not boastul. Whatever you possess is not by your own efforts. It is by the Mercy of Allah Ta’ala.
Allah has granted each individual a special gift and special talents, granted each individual the strength to handle certain tasks, and that’s how it all fits together, like a puzzle because without mutual help, life would be incomplete.
The Qur’an tells the believers: “When you speak, speak with justice, even if it is against someone close to you…” (Qur’an 6:152)
Don’t allow arrogance and ignorance to make you oblivious of the needy around you.
Rather, be grateful and show more appreciation to those who assist us, and everyone we even randomly meet. May Allah Ta’ala grant everyone the best of both worlds, and make your journey to Paradise easy and clear for all, Aameen.
