the subtle influence of the world

It’s so easy to get influenced by the environment we live in or the people we surround ourselves with. Sometimes, it happens so gradually that we don’t even realize how our hearts begin to change, how our thoughts start to shift, and how our actions slowly drift away from the teachings of our Deen.

For a moment, your faith, your akhlaaq (character), your hayaa (modesty), and your entire image as a believer are no longer a priority. They don’t even cross your mind because you’re too caught up in the temporary pleasures that this world offers. The laughter, the company, the thrill, it all feels so good, so right, that you forget to pause and reflect on whether Allah Ta’ala is pleased with you in those moments.

You tell yourself it’s harmless, that you’ll fix things later, but as you continue down that path, committing acts that once made your heart uneasy, the feeling of guilt slowly fades away. You begin to live your life without remorse, without that soft whisper of the conscience that used to remind you: “This isn’t who you are.”

I urge you, dear reader, to take a step back and reflect. Look closely at the life you’re living and ask yourself: Is this the path that will benefit me in the long run? Will the choices I make today bring me closer to Allah or further away? Will they help me on the Day when nothing will matter except my deeds?

Think deeply. Will the things that bring you joy now be worth the price of your Aakhirah (Hereafter)? Will they make you a better person, or will they stain your soul and tarnish your Deen?

Life is fragile. It’s shorter than we think, and every moment that passes is one step closer to our final breath. Don’t waste your valuable time and precious energy chasing what will only leave you empty. The world will keep trying to pull you in different directions, through trends, temptations, and distractions, but remember, the path of righteousness, though difficult, is the only one that brings true peace to the heart.

Return to Allah before life returns to Him. Fix your connection with your Creator before it’s too late. Don’t allow the influence of others to define your worth or your identity as a believer. Choose your friends wisely, choose your environment carefully, and most importantly, choose your Aakhirah over this fleeting world.

May Allah grant us all the strength to recognize our mistakes, to turn away from sin, and to walk the path of guidance once again. Remember this sinful slave in your duas, InshaAllah
