We often make the mistake of blaming and belittling someone by their wrong past experiences, maybe they were not inclined enough towards their faith and got lost into darkness. But no one has given us the right to criticise or call them kaafir, munafiq when they are trying to practice Islam.
Do you really think such heavy words are to be used so lightly, do you think they are digested so easily by the individual who has to hear those bitter words?
It might be that person is trying to come closer to Allah Ta'ala. Do we think that Allah will not question us for this attitude that we have adapted, and punish us?
We really need to understand that no one is defined by their past, rather it is what makes them who they are today and we cannot blame a person for a mistake they committed in ignorance. We are not perfect, we also commit sins daily, we too need reformation.
We will never know if that individual has repented for for their sins as we fail to understand a heart, yet remember Allah knows and let Him be the judge. You and I have no right to judge another human being and spit words of venom but rather encourage each other in goodness and righteousness. Help them to be better versions of their selves than reminding them of their past deeds.
It will add no benefit to to their present life but more harm.
May Allah Ta'ala grant us the ability to refrain from hurting anyone, wrongfully judging, and keep us amongst the people who will uplift each other in goodness for this life and the hereafter. Aameen.
