Modesty

Narrated by Abu Huraira (RA): The Prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam said, “Faith (Belief) consists of more than sixty branches (i.e. parts), And Haya (This term “Haya” covers a large number of concepts which are to be taken together; amongst them are self respect, modesty, bashfulness, and scruple, etc.) is a part of faith.” (Bukhari)

What is beauty?
I firmly believe that Allah Ta’ala has granted every individual their own type of beauty and it should be appreciated, and explored. Of course, under the right circumstances.

Does it sound disconcerting coming from the mouth of a niqabi, from someone who refuses to show her beauty to avoid lustful gazes and desires.

Someone who loves adorning black as its most obscuring, someone who desires to hide her identity and safeguard her chastity.

Believe me when I say, you don’t need to be unclothed or fully clothed for others to see the beauty in you. Magnificence comes in different forms and silhouettes.

Have you ever heard a speech? That awakens your soul,  have you ever looked at someone and recognized their soul before their appearance.

Perhaps you’ve never met one, but the mere recognition of them makes you feel unsettling.

Did you realise how flawed you are, and how beautiful that makes you.

Ever felt a pang of guilt almost instantaneously or fell into the same trap and woke up one day and realised.

“This is taking all my energy, my life, my soul, my heart, my content and destroying my relationships” There’s wisdom in reflecting and repenting.

Have you ever felt like your heart is pitch black from  the bad deeds you’ve committed.
Remember Allah Ta’ala is Most Merciful, Most Forgiving.

If you’re still doing the one thing that’s causing great havoc, reflect. Reflect on why you should distance yourself from it.
Ponder over the consequences of those actions, the punishment of it helps to bring khauf(fear of Allah Ta’ala) into our lives gradually inshaAllah.

To me, the magnificence of existence is remembering Allah Ta’ala.
I personally agree with this quote:

“Women should not be like the moon which everyone can see uncovered, but women should be like the sun which makes eyes bow down before they can see it”.

Beyond all that I’ve mentioned,
beyond your skin, your hair, your eyes, consider this; Allah does not look at the clothes you wear. He looks at the condition of your heart, your akhlaaq(character).

Be humble in your manners and relations. There is so much barakah (blessing )and wisdom in realising and fixing our mistakes.

May Allah Ta’ala grant us all true understanding of deen, grant us the ability to practice on what was mentioned, grant us istiqaamat (steadfastness ), and grant the Ummah of our beloved Nabi Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam unity. Aameen.
