CHANGING THE NEGATIVE MINDSET

Assalaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakahtuhu.

Whenever I’m unhappy/depressed, I remind myself about our beloved Prophet Muhammed Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam.

I think about the immense pain, hardship, false accusations, torture, loss, humiliations, that He Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam endured.

Pelted and pelted, rock upon rock, stone upon stone, until eventually His Sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam’s flesh split open and the blood started oozing.

Ya Rabb,
what I am experiencing, what this Ummah is experiencing, is nothing compared to what Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam experienced. It’s just a drop in the ocean.

If we work towards gaining closeness to Allah Ta’ala by turning to Him whenever we’re experiencing any discomfort, then we will be able to reach a stage where we can handle the humiliations/disappointments of this world, and for every problem, sorrow, pain, discouragement, negative thought or intention, we will be able to turn our focus to Allah Ta’ala for guidance and strengthen our conviction In sha Allah.

Allah has given glad tidings of three things to those who are patient, each of which is better than that for which the people of this world envy one another. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“but give glad tidings to As‑ Saabiroon (the patient).

Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: ‘Truly, to Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (Arabic: إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ‎)

They are those on whom are the Salawaat (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided ones”
[al-Baqarah 2:155-157]

Allah exhorts His slaves to seek help with patience and prayer when facing calamities that may befall a person. Allah Ta’ala says :
“And seek help in patience and As-Salaah (the prayer) and truly, it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khaashi‘oon [i.e. the true believers in Allah — those who obey Allah with full submission, fear much from His punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise) and in His Warnings (Hell)]”
[al-Baqarah 2:45]

Remember this sinful slave in your duas In sha Allah Ameen.
