Mother – Ummi

Mother

Mother – There’s a nasheed regarding the mother of a child. It’s about a child who has lost his mother; it’s incredibly sad.

Imagine listening to that nasheed and feeling as though you have lost your mother even though she is alive and well, all praises and thanks to Him. If there’s Jannah on this earth, it is our mothers.

Imagine drowning in your own tears and supplicating to Him that he grants your ummi Jannah as a reward for every tear she has shed because of you. Imagine she does not see how islam has changed to be a better person and therefore questions the Qur’an and her Maker.

Imagine wanting goodness for your brother as you know none of you are true Muslims until you want for your brother what you want for yourself and wanting that goodness a billion times for your mother, yet she questions what if she doesn’t want that for herself.

Imagine waking up daily in tears because the thought of your ummi dying without Allah being pleased with her, rips your soul apart. Imagine that your ummi does not see how much you appreciate her, not because you do things for her, but because Allah could’ve let someone else do those things for her, yet He chose you.

He chose you to make her laugh, He chose you to see her smile, He chose you to make her a cup of coffee filled with love. Only because He is Ar-Rahman.

Imagine wanting to mention to her that Allah has said you should give good treatment towards and not even say “uff” to her, yet you fail to do so.

As Muslims we have to constantly reflect on our imaan. Might be that you’re not grateful to have a mother or to be alive? May it be that you’re not treating your umm properly as you like to think? May it be that you haven’t said Alhamdulillah for seeing her at the end of the day?

May it be that you’re not grateful to spread the salaam with your mother while others have no one to say salaam to?

Perhaps it may be that Allah wants you to reflect, perhaps He wants you to read more Qur’an and understand it to convey it to your mother in a beautiful manner? Indeed, every matter is good, so reflect on the good and bad times.

Work towards your Jannah reflect on how you’re treating your mother. May Allah have mercy upon our parents as they took care of us when we were little, Aameen.
