Cyber Bullying -Part 10
“There are all these moments you think you wont survive, and then you survive. “
Kayla’s mum never left the room. She paced up and down, pausing every few minutes to check if Kayla had woken up and if not, she continued to pace up and down. Her mind wouldn’t stop racing with thoughts of shame, guilt, and what-ifs scenarios. The image of her daughter’s body been pumped kept playing on her mind several times.
If they hadn’t gotten to the hospital in time, she would have lost her precious child.
Kayla had woken up, not knowing where she is. Confused and unsure of how long she was asleep for.
She sees her mother lost in thoughts, murmurs her name while groaning in pain turning to her side. She tried to recall what had happened after her mother entered the room but can’t get her mind to focus on anything. It was still blur, she was drowsy and her body was aching.
Her mother had heard Kayla’s faint voice,
The stress, worry, all the negativity that was going through her mind had been forgotten the moment she turned to face her daughter.
Ease had settled in her heart when she saw her daughter awake but still devastated to see her in that state.
Kayla questioned mother about what happened, how she ended up in the hospital and if anyone responded to her video.
Her mother gently kissed her forehead, informing her that she was unconscious due to overdosing, she was rushed to the hospital and if they hadn’t made it on time, she would have lost her.
With that being said, her mother teared but didn’t allow it pour out.
She wiped her face, smiled and said that everything will be okay.
It’s a fresh start, a new beginning. What happened yesterday is the past and that should not be brought up again.
Kayla’s mum then reads a quote she had seen earlier in one of the books which was relatable to what Kayla had been experiencing :
“You will always have to face criticism, which in its onslaught is like an interminable war: it shows no sign of ending. As long as you shine, give, produce and have an effect upon others, then disapproval and condemnation will be your lot in life.
Remain firm and patient when facing insults and criticism, turn away from them and do not feel distressed by their schemes. Societies disapproval of you only increases you in worth and merit. “
Kayla’s mum : There’s always a solution to every problem, always something or someone to speak to, there’s always a way to find motivation, a way to attain your happiness again.
Self harm isn’t the solution Kay. You’re better than that.
Kayla : cries I’m sorry mum.
Its just that I felt so lost, I felt like as my whole world was falling apart and nothing could make it better.
Kayla’s mum : Kay there’s always a solution to every problem. By choosing death, you are giving those bullies the upper hand.
You’re giving them the advantage to ruin someone else’s life.
These people need to be taught a lesson, not motivated to continue with it.
Kayla’s conversation with her mum would have to wait to be continued because the nurse had come in to check on the patient.
After examining Kayla , she was told that she could be discharged but needs a good rest and has to take her medication until she’s feeling much better physically and mentally.
To be continued….
