Zina( Adultery )
By definition, Zina means adultery but the truth is, it’s more than that.
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Allah has written the very portion of Zina which a man will indulge in. There will be no escape from it. The Zina of the eye is the look, the Zina of the ears is the listening, zina of the tongue is speech, zina of the hand is the grip, zina of the feet is the walking (to the place where he intends to commit Zina), the heart yearns and desires and the private parts approve all that or disapprove it.”
Al-Bukhari and Muslim
In a hadith reported by Musnad Ahmed a young man seeks permission from Rasoolullah (saw) saying:
“O Messenger of Allah! Give me permission to commit Zina (unlawful sex).”
The people surrounded him and rebuked him, saying, “Stop! Stop!”
But the Prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam said: “Come close.”
The young man came to Him, and He Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam said, “Sit down.” So he sat down.
The Prophet then said:
“Would you like (unlawful sex) for your mother?”
He said, “No, by Allah, may I be ransomed for you.”
The Prophet responded:
“Neither do the people like it for their mothers.”
The Prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam then said:
“Would you like it for your daughter?”
He said, “No, by Allah, may I be ransomed for you.”
The prophet responded:
“Neither do the people like it for their daughters.”
The prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam said:
“Would you like it for your sister?”
He said, “No, by Allah, may I be ransomed for you.”
The prophet replied:
“Neither do the people like it for their sisters.”
The Prophet said:
“Would you like it for your paternal aunt?”
He said, “No, by Allah, O Allah’s Messenger! may I be ransomed for you.”
The Prophet replied:
“Neither do the people like it for their paternal aunts.”
The Prophet said,
“Would you like it for your maternal aunt?”
He said, “No, by Allah, O Allah’s Messenger! may I be ransomed for you.”
The Prophet replied:
“Neither do the people like it for their maternal aunts.” Then the Prophet put his hand on him and said:
“O Allah, forgive his sin, purify his heart and guard his chastity). After that, the young man never paid attention to anything of that nature.””
(Musnad Ahmad, sound hadith)
To me, this hadith displays the character, piety and modesty of Rasulullah (Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam). Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam refrained from criticising the young man, He used intellect and hikmah( wisdom) to make him understand.
He( Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam) showed His love for the young man by making dua for him, to me that is what loving someone for the sake of Allah Ta’ala means.
Hate the sin, not the person committing the sin.
Be cautious when advising a person.
You can either win them over or make them go further away from Islam.
