Nikkah: Marriage is a beautiful thing which Allah Ta’ala has made easy and halaal. But people have made it difficult amongst themselves.
Marriage has become strange and adultery has become the norm. It is Sunnah to marry, so whoever turns away from the Sunnah is not from the Prophet’s nation (Salallahu alayhi wa salaam).
Marriage is a bond in which you learn to love someone for Allah’s sake, you become a garment for one another; by hiding each other’s faults. It is based on protecting, obeying, trusting and communicating with one another while putting Allah Ta’ala above everything.
If you’re wondering whether it’s better to seek knowledge or marry a spouse, know that if you marry the righteous person, they will learn with you. While it is best to consider the religion, beauty, wealth and status when considering marrying that person, remember that you should have the same attributes you look for in that individual.
Seek Allah’s help, seek deeni knowledge (Islamic Knowledge), academic knowledge, travel. Do what make you’re happy with and don’t lose yourself while finding half of your deen.
If something is meant for you, never in a million years will it be for someone else, so be patient and depend on Allah alone. Fall in love with Allah Ta’ala, Al-Wadood (The All loving) first before falling in love with its creation and remember to be kind to your soul; to love yourself.
Nikkah is ordained to us by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala so that we may have permissible relations, attain closeness to Allah Ta’ala through it and have pious offsprings.
To attain this, we can supplicate to Allah:
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
Surah Al-Furqaan ayah 74
(Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.)
The best amongst you are not only those with the best character or those who learn Quran and teaches it to others, but it is those of you who are the best to your wives. For the believing men attaining Jannah, Allah will give them 70 virgins (hoorul-ayn) who will be made from saffron and they will shine like that of the stars in the night sky.
They will be absolutely beautiful, but as for the wife of the husband in the dunya, who’s made of clay, by the will of Allah she attains Jannah, Allah will make her so beautiful, when the husband sees her, he (the husband) will forget all about them (the hoor-ul ayn). She will be the most beautiful of all because the hoor-ul ayn did not endure the hardships the woman in the dunya had to endure. Subhan Allah.
May this inspire us to make nikkah as a path to improve our imaan while helping one another Insha’Allah Aameen.
