The first instruction given to the Prophet (Salallahu alayhi wa salaam) by Allah Ta’ala through the angel Jibra’eel (alayhi salaam) was not to “pray’’ but “Iqra”.
Iqra means to read. The Prophet (Salallahu alayhi wa salaam) did not know how to read until the angel Jibra’eel (alayhi salaam) said “Read in the name of your Lord, who has created (all that exists), created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous. “(96:1, 96:2, 96:3)
Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “It shall be said – meaning to the one who memorized the Qur’an – ‘Recite, and rise up, recite (melodiously) as you would recite in the world. For indeed your rank shall be at the last Ayah you recited.'” (Hasan (Darussalam))
In it there is a cure for ailments and diseases of the heart. It is a cure for anxiety, sorrow, pain and all that we’re afflicted with, if we give thought. The Quran can become the spring of our hearts, the light of our chests, the banisher of our sadness and the reliever of our stress by the will of Allah as long as we supplicate unto Him and remember Him.
Aishah reported the Prophet (ﷺ) as saying:
One who is skilled in the Qur’an is associated with the noble, upright recording angels, and he who falters when he recites the Qur’an and finds it difficult for him will have a double reward. (Sahih (Al-Albani))
When reading, reciting and doing anything and everything in life (which pleases Allah), remember to begin therewith in the name of The Most Gracious, Most Merciful and as for those of you struggling to recite Quran, remember the prophet (Salallahu alayhi wa salaam) said, for you, there will be a double read.
The Holy Quran is a reminder for us, to remember the Creator.
(13:28)
(Translation: Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured)
The Quran has been sent down as mercy to insaan (mankind); do not make haste with it. Recite, ponder and while this dunya tries to break you into piece, believe that it will cause you to be at peace, In sha Allah.
