Cyber Bullying -Part 9
” Suicidal isn’t cowardly.
I’ll tell you what is cowardly;
Treating people so badly that they want to end their lives. “
– Ashley Purdy
Life didn’t make sense. Kayla was angry. She was frustrated, she felt worthless. She thought ending her life would take away the pain but before attempting anything she wanted to upload a video on that account to make the viewers aware of her state that they have put her in, to see how far they have pushed her and
to make them realize that bullying someone comes with severe consequences and they should take lesson from her experience.
Sweaty hands, upset stomach due to fear of what she’s about to do.
Kayla is still adamant on overdosing. She wanted to be released from the torment she faced daily.
Gathering all the medication she could find, with a big bottle of water in her hand, every sip of water she takes, a few tablets are swallowed.
While Kayla is trying to gulp as many tablets as possible, she gets interrupted by Hailey screaming at the top of her voice outside her home.
She ignored and continued overdosing with the intention that everyone will be happy if she left this world.
The door flung open, Kayla looked up to find her mother and best friend running towards her.
She grabs the medication, trying to run away from them so she can fulfil her promise to everyone who was watching the video she uploaded.
Her mother held her back, trying to calm her down but Kayla refuses to listen.
She pleads with her mother to let her go, to let her die because her life was already ruined.
Kayla’s mum : “ssshh ssssshh, Kayla calm down. Baby look at me.”
“Your life is not ruined, we will get through this.”
Kayla not able speak because she was crying so hard that her breathing was halted for a moment.
Kayla’s mum : holding her daughter, Kayla I promise everything is going to be okay and we’re going to get through it.
Her mother could no longer hold her tears back and breaks down crying uncontrollably.
Hailey stood there in silence looking abashed because of her actions.
She pushed her best friend to such and extent that suicide was the only solution to end her problems.
She hated herself, she felt disgusted by the thought of doing committing such actions based on jealousy.
Jealous that Kayla had someone that liked her and was genuine.
Someone that wasn’t like her ex, who was only after a good time. She was also jealous that Kayla was becoming popular over social media and the funny thing about this is that hailey was encouraging Kayla to be more open about herself.
When that started changing, she became jealous.
All this petty things had made her be the cause of someone committing suicide.
Her thoughts come to a halt when she hears Kayla’s mum call out her name.
Trembling with fear, she turns around to find Kayla unconscious.
“I’m not letting anything happen to you”, her mother kept repeating those words with while driving to the hospital.
Kayla was admitted, her mother pacing up and down with worry and guilt visible on her face. She blames herself for what has happened to Kayla. Hailey steps in and tells the mother that nothing is her fault. How could she have known it will lead to this. Kayla didn’t expect this either, she thought everything was getting better.
Not having the courage to stand there and watch her friend endure so much pain, Hailey makes an excuse to leave, not waiting for the mother’s reply. She runs out sobbing profusely.
“Depression is a constant feeling of being numb. Being numb to emotions. Being numb to life. You wake up in the morning just to go back to bed again. “
That’s how she felt. It was eating her inside.
To be continued.
